A sword is a dangerous, yet very effective, weapon. A sword, in a skillful hand, can swiftly cut through and pierce an enemy, to bring about the desired victory. This is also characteristic of the Word of Yahuwah Elohim [the Hebrew name for the LORD God].
The Word of God is the Sword of the Holy Spirit, the perfect weapon for Father’s children to use against the wiles of Satan (Ephesians 6:13-18).
The Words of the Bible are like a sharp, two-edged sword! Yahuwah’s Words are precise, accurate, penetrating, purifying, convicting, convincing, and life-changing.
The sharp edges of Yahuwah’s Word can cut through every single situation and circumstance. It can divide between the soul and spirit, between the joints and marrow, and even cut through the muck and mire of human nature, to precisely expose the thoughts and motives of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).
Those who love and honour Yahuwah as their loving Father, welcome the sharp, penetrating nature and authority of His Word. These precious souls have a love for the truth and they recognize the loving mercy of the Most High Elohim! They desire the powerful cleansing and purifying results of living according to Yahuwah’s powerful sword-like Word.
“God will deal with you in mercy but in severity, because all divine love is a sword and ‘divides asunder soul and spirit, joint and marrow’ and deals with the inward desires of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).” — Smith Wigglesworth
These tender-hearted souls learn to humble themselves, and to endure the sting of correction, maturity, hardship, and suffering, so that they may obtain everlasting life. They are eternally grateful for God’s loving Word that instructs and corrects them, heals and restores them, guides and energizes them. [1]
The humble confidently know the eternal power and perfectness of Yahuwah’s written Word and His loving Ways! They make the choice to bow before Yahuwah, submit to His penetrating truth, and gladly obey His dynamic Words. Thus, the Heavenly Father lifts them up into heavenly places with His Son, Yahushua Messiah [the Hebrew name for Jesus Christ], and gives them an inner peace and gladness. [2]
But those who scoff at Yahuwah’s written Word, and reject the truth of His Word, they do not have “the love for the truth.” Their hearts are hardened and darkened, their eyes are blinded to God’s truth. Hard hearts cannot bear the sword-like quality of the Word of Yahuwah because it cuts through the lies, the hypocrisy, and the pride of the selfish, carnal nature. [3]
God’s Word breaks through the nonsense of falsehood, and exposes the hidden darkness of rebellion. Those who stubbornly scorn the truth of Yahuwah’s Word, continually sear their own conscience. These will end up falling victim to a corrupted mind and corrupted actions. The end result is to be among the ‘workers of iniquity’. This is a fearful outcome for those who reject the Words of our Maker! [4]
But those who accept the truth of Yahuwah’s written Word, will acknowledge their own crookedness — their sinfulness, and thus, their need. They humbly receive the precious blood of Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] to cleanse them from all unrighteousness, and to forgive their sins. They seek to adjust their ways daily, and seek to line up their ways with God’s Word. They want to live according to Father’s truth and wisdom, gaining a teachable heart and a good conscience. As a result, the Holy Spirit restores their hope, their love and confidence. [5]
As a loving Father, God’s Word disciplines His children, in order to prompt them to obedience, and to keep them in His Way. It is in this manner, that Father keeps them pure, obedient, and productive in bearing fruit for His glory (see Hebrews 12:5-11).
Father’s children gladly embrace His tough-love Word, allowing it to do its cutting — cutting away the hate, the rebellion, the bitterness, the lies, the selfishness. Thus they make progress in maturity and obedience and love. Father increases their love and mercy for others, giving them abundant grace and fruitfulness. [6]
Because of their abundant love for God, Father’s children seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. By Father’s grace, they learn the great honour of using the sword-like authority of Yahuwah’s Word, for demolishing the trickery of the forces of darkness.
Let the saints be joyful in glory …
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand …
To execute the judgment written: this honour have all His saints.
Psalms 149:5-9
May each one of us heed the apostle Paul’s exhortation to take the whole armour of God (see Ephesians 6:13-18), and be vigilant to learn and become a brave “DO-er” of God’s Word, which is the Sword of the Spirit.
