As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is ‘good news’ from a distant land (Proverbs 25:25).
God created you, loves you, and is merciful! And God has “Good News” for Thirsty Souls! The best part of His Good News is the forgiveness for your sins, and an entrance for you, into His Kingdom!
Let me explain how you can know the depth of God’s great love, by looking at the very first step to knowing God’s Good News – the forgiveness of sins.
Those who are genuine Thirsty Souls have a deep sense of need for God’s forgiveness. Though they may not understand it, Thirsty Souls sense a heavy burden within their spirit. The heavy burden is the weight of sins that have not been forgiven. Deep inside their spirit is the need for forgiveness – God’s forgiveness.
We all need God’s forgiveness for the sins we have committed. But the question arises, “How do I receive God’s forgiveness for my sins?”
The answer begins over two thousand years ago, when Yahushua [the Hebrew name for Jesus] was crucified on a cross or stake. He died, shed His blood, and was buried. Then in three days He was resurrected from the dead, and He then ascended alive into heaven, all according to the Scriptures (1Corinthians 15:3-8).
Many have heard that Yahushua [Jesus] died for the sins of the world — by His blood that He shed.
But many ask the questions, “What does this have to do with me?” and, “What about my sins? How are my sins forgiven?”
To answer these questions, let’s look at what Yahushua [Jesus] said:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
Yahushua [Jesus] is ‘The’ way. He is telling us that He is the only Way to God, the Father.
Here is another statement by Yahushua [Jesus]:
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)
This verse teaches us that Yahushua is at the door of our heart, knocking. If we want Him to come into our life and share His goodness with us, then we must invite Him. Yahushua does not force Himself on anyone. We must invite Him into our life.
Yahushua is the only Way to God the Father, and we must open up our heart to Him and invite Him into our life.
But there is a problem. Our sins prevent us from entering into God’s presence (Isaiah 59:2). We must first have our sins removed, and this is what Yahushua [Jesus] does for us when we receive His forgiveness.
It is worthy to note that no sin is ‘too bad’ or ‘too numerous’ to be forgiven. The Blood of Yahushua [Jesus] can remove them all!
Next, let’s look at something else Yahushua [Jesus] said:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
As this verse tells us, Yahushua [Jesus] said that if we come to Him, He will take our heavy load of sins away from us, [no matter how many, how terrible, or how great the heavy load of sins may be] and He will give us rest.
He gives us rest! When we personally receive Yahushua and His forgiveness of our sins, we will finally be at peace with God — which gives us true rest that is far beyond our wildest dreams! (Philippians 4:7).
If we want God’s forgiveness, and His peace and rest, then each one of us must first come to Him personally. We must approach Him personally, in prayer. We must then admit, “I am a sinner” (see Romans 3:23 below), for He tells us in His Word that sinners are separated from God: your iniquities have separated between you and your God (Isaiah 59:2).
Now is the Time
We must understand, that God tells us that sinners do not qualify for eternal Life, nor will they be allowed into the Kingdom of Heaven. Sinners must receive eternal Death (Matthew 18:3; John 3:5; Romans 6:23; Revelation 22:14-15).
Everyone will spend forever somewhere. But to enter the blessing of eternal Life, we must say to ourselves: “I must come to God, to have my sins forgiven.”
I must also do it quickly while I am still alive in this flesh, for I do not know what may happen tomorrow, or even tonight! For this reason, God tells me that the time and day of my Salvation is NOW! (2Corinthians 6:2).
To have my sins forgiven, I would cry out to God, telling Him the awful truth that none of us like to admit — that I need Him to save me, to rescue me, from my sins. I would tell Him that I need His forgiveness that was provided for me when Yahushua [Jesus] died on the tree, when He paid for my sins, as the following Scriptures tell us:
Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1Peter 2:24)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission [“letting go; forgiveness”] of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (Romans 3:23-25)
Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. (Romans 5:9-10)
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him [Jesus] that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, (Revelation 1:5)
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
If we look very carefully at the above Scriptures, we see that we can become cleansed from sin, and justified, or made righteous, only by Yahushua’s [Jesus’] blood that He shed when He died. And the result will be that our sins are forgiven, and we are made right with God, and we are changed forever.
Notice that this is made possible, because God loved us so much, and to such a great degree, that He gave His Son Yahushua [Jesus] to die in our place — on our behalf — so that we could live with Him, belong to Him, and not die!
This is Good News!
But how do I become cleansed from my sin, and made righteous, so that His forgiveness applies to me in a personal way?
Notice the following Scripture passages:
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:9)
“…whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21; Romans 10:13)
Yahushua [Jesus] Messiah Himself is the Way to the Father. He is the gate or door — the Entrance — into the Kingdom of Heaven (John 10:7). We enter the Way through Messiah, by the forgiveness of our sins.
In the above verses, we see that anyone who calls upon, cries out, or appeals to God the Father [Yahuwah, the Hebrew name of the LORD] in the name of His Son Yahushua [Jesus], shall be saved! When we do this, we are inviting Him into our life.
Here is an example for us in Scripture, of what we can do:
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. (Luke 18:13-14)
We see in the above verse that the unrighteous publican was justified [made righteous] when he humbled himself, by 1) admitting he was a sinner, and 2) crying out for God’s mercy.
If I do as the Publican did, if I humble myself, admitting to God that I am a sinner, and cry out for His mercy, God will also hear my prayer.
Receive His Forgiveness
If my prayer — my request for His mercy and forgiveness — is a sincere and honest request, then He will make His forgiveness personal for me. My sins will then be forgiven, and I too can become justified, made righteous in God’s sight! And even though I can not see God, then He will send His Holy Spirit to confirm my prayer.
And so it is by Yahushua’s Blood that we are justified, made righteous, and forgiven of our sins — but it is when I humble myself, and cry out for His mercy, that His justification and forgiveness are applied to me personally.
I would first get down on my knees [humble myself], and cry out to God. It is important that we use our voice to speak out loud to God.
I would tell Him out loud, “I come to you, Yahushua [Jesus],” and then tell Him, “I am a sinner. Thank You for dying in my place, and for spilling your Blood for me, and for forgiving me of my sins.” I would then tell Him, “I receive your forgiveness for my sins, in Your name, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ]. Please come into my life and fill me with Your presence.”
After I have cried out to God in true sincerity, and have truly sought His forgiveness, then Messiah forgives all my sins, and Messiah becomes ‘birthed’ within my inner being. And I now have a profound sense of the burden, the weight of sin and guilt, being lifted from me. My spirit is free and clean. The guilt is completely gone, for His Blood has cleansed me; and He now lives within me (John 3:3,7; Colossians 1:27; 1John 1:7; 1John 3:5).
This is the first step in knowing God’s GOOD News!
Let us again look at another Scripture that tells us more on how to receive God’s forgiveness:
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness! (1John 1:9)
This verse teaches the simplicity of God’s offer of forgiveness. When I tell God [confess to Him out loud] sincerely, that I am a sinner, then God will forgive me.
God, as a loving father, offers this free gift only to those who are true and honest, and to those who know they have sinned, and know they desperately need forgiveness!
Only God can give us freedom from sin. There’s nothing we can do to earn His forgiveness. Our own efforts will never obtain the personal restoration that comes from God’s forgiveness. Every single person needs to come to the Holy, Living God for forgiveness and cleansing of their sins.
When we honestly, sincerely humble ourselves and come to God, personally, telling Him, confessing our sins to Him, we then will begin to have that profound sense of forgiveness. We then will begin to understand God, His Word, and His great love for us. And He will give us a new heart, with a desire deep in our heart to love God, because we have invited Him into our heart and we now belong to Him.
God Sent His Son
God sent His Son to be The Saviour of the world. This is Good News!
Father God wants to show Himself to you! God wants to show you His Ways. He wants to help you, deliver you, rescue you, and bring you into His family. That is why He sent His Son into the world. God sent His Son, Yahushua [Jesus], as a loving and merciful rescue — a rescue from an eternity of misery (Psalms 9:17).
God revealed His great love for us when He sent His beloved Son to die on the cross for our sins:
… Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures (1Corinthians 15:3,4).
As I said earlier, it is Yahushua’s death, burial, and resurrection that made the forgiveness of our sins possible! It is only by the pure and sinless blood of Yahushua [Jesus] that we are cleansed from our sins! God offers the forgiveness of our sins through the precious blood of His Son, and in the Name of His Son, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ].
He offers us freely the mercy and grace [the enablement], to love Him and to obey Him and begin a new life of following Him! Notice carefully these verses from the Bible that show us the truth of God’s love for us:
In this was manifested the love OF God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son [Yahushua (Jesus) Messiah] into the world, that we might live through Him. (1 John 4:9)
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son [Yahushua (Jesus)] to be the propitiation (the atonement) for our sins. (1 John 4:10)
… You [the LORD] have in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for You have cast all my sins behind Your back. (Isaiah 38:17b)
The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ) our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
The thief [Satan] does not come except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy. I [Yahushua] came that they may have life and may have it abundantly. (John 10:10)
The above Scriptures show us that it is the thief [Satan] that wants to deceive and destroy us! But, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] is God’s Gift for us! Through Yahushua, we can know The Way to enter into God’s eternal kingdom, plans, and have abundant LIFE. It is through God’s Son that we gain full and complete forgiveness of our sins — ‘sins’ being the things we have done against God and His Word.
But, as I said, we must personally come to Yahushua, as He has told us:
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
When we sincerely and honestly come to Yahushua in prayer, and when we look to Him for answers, praying in His Name, then we can begin to experience God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness, as well as His hope and His comfort. This is how we are Born From Above, or Born-Again.
God is Love!
God is love! God’s love endures and bears all things. And God has shown His love for us in so many ways. The most extravagant expression of His love was the sending of His Son Yahushua [Jesus] to be the Saviour of the world. And when we humble ourselves, and ask for His forgiveness in the name of His Son, with sincerity, we can know His loving forgiveness!
There is no solution within ourselves. We must turn away from ourselves and look to Yahuwah [the LORD] and to His Son. We must tell Him that we need Him, that we want Him to come into our life — and ask for His forgiveness of our sins [the things we have done that are against His Word], and ask His help to be the kind of person that HE wants us to be.
When we do this personally, we will be changed, becoming a new person, desiring to please God. Our outlook on life will be completely different! This is what Yahushua [Jesus] was talking about in John 3:1-8, when He said, “You must be born again (born from above)!”
Ask Father To Show You The Way
Talk to the Heavenly Father and ask Him today, out loud, in the name of His Son Yahushua [Jesus], to forgive you of your sins and to show you The Way to eternal Life. Ask Him to help you understand Him so that you can be Born-Again. It is important to speak out loud with your voice to God, with a true and sincere heart, and then to tell others what you prayed!
If you have not yet asked God for His forgiveness, then here is a suggested prayer. Talk to Him today!
Father in Heaven, I come to You in the name of Your Son, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ]. Even though I may not fully understand what it means to be ‘born-again,’ I do acknowledge to You that I am a sinner and that I have sinned against You. I ask You to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me of my sins by the blood of Your Son, Yahushua. I ask You to forgive me for ______ (name any specific sins), and make me clean by the blood of Yahushua. I invite You to come into my life and make me to be the kind of person You want me to be. Help me to read Your Word and to love You and to live for You. Hold me close to You always! In the name of Yahushua I pray. Amen.
Call On God With Sincerity
Yahuwah [the LORD] is near unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. (Psalms 145:18)
As this Scripture says, if you call upon Yahuwah [the LORD God, the Heavenly Father], calling upon Him in truth — in the sincerity of your heart — then He will draw near to you, by His Holy Spirit!
If you will be humble, as a little child, and talk to the Heavenly Father from your heart, then He will hear your prayer. Start to draw near to Him today by calling upon Him. Wait patiently on Him!
If you are sincere, He will make His truth known to you. Most importantly, find a Bible and begin reading it. Read the Gospel of John and the letters of John. Read the Psalms and the Proverbs. Tell others about your prayer and your decision to come to God. And patiently begin trusting and learning God’s Word so you can obey Him.
