Lead Me In Your Truth: Part 3 – The Person of Truth

Searching for Truth is a major issue these days. But how can we know what is Truth? How can we know what is error or deception?

Can we discern Truth from lies, discern Truth from falsehoods?

Does Truth change over time from century to century? Does Truth evolve, like societies, cultures, and customs evolve?

The answer to all these questions is found in the Bible, the written Word of God, the book that contains the mind of God, the condition of man, and the way of salvation.

Truth has its origin in God. Truth is unchanging and absolute. Best of all, Truth is available. When we find the Truth, we can avoid deception.

Discerning Truth From Error

This is the 3rd, and final part in our series entitled, Lead Me in Your Truth. In this series, we have been looking at the questions, “What is truth?”, “How can we find truth?”

As we saw in Part 1, we are living in a time when there is a great need for discerning Truth from error. Very few have the necessary discernment for knowing what is Truth, and how it is a safe-guard against deception and lies!

Deception describes much of what happens today. Which is just as Yahushua Messiah [the Hebrew name for Jesus Christ] warned – that deception will be a dominant feature of the End-Time Days: “Beware that no one deceive you! … many shall be deceived!” (Matthew 24:4-5).

Also in Part 1, we looked at what is the doorway into deception, and the two steps we can take that are safeguards against deception.

In Part 2, we discussed the great importance of the foundation of Truth: the ‘Ancient Paths‘ as written in The Torah. We saw that our Creator, Yahuwah Elohim [the Hebrew name for the LORD God], did not leave ‘The Standard for Truth’ to man’s invention or imagination! We looked carefully in great detail, at the evidence that the Torah is The Standard for Truth. God gave us this Standard from ancient times — from the beginning!

Here in Part 3 we continue to further explore this prayer to God:

In order to fully understand what is now presented here, it is essential to read Part 1 and Part 2, because both articles cover foundational concepts of Truth.

Finding God’s Truth ranks far above all other claims on Truth. God’s Truth is authentic and indisputable, because God’s Truth is the origin of all Truth, and it is founded in the nature and character of the Creator of all things.

As we begin Part 3 of this series, let us again be reminded of this one important Truth:

The Creator of the universe [Yahuwah Elohim – The LORD God] is the only Righteous, Living, Eternal, All-Mighty God. He is gracious, loving, and merciful. He is unlimited in His abilities and He is infinitely superior to all human wisdom and reasoning.”

Now let’s consider the concept of Truth as a person, looking at the question, “Who is Truth?

Who is Truth? — A Mysterious Question

Can it be that Truth is a person? To our finite minds, that idea seems hard to imagine.

How could such a question be considered? – that Truth is a person?

Again we find the answer to this mysterious question, “Who is Truth?“, in the Scriptures [the Bible]. Notice what Yahushua Messiah [the Hebrew name for Jesus Christ] tells us:

  • Yahushua [Jesus] said unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
  • Yahushua Messiah spoke to John saying… “To the angel of the congregation in Philadelphia write: These things says the Holy One, the True One [Yahushua Messiah], the One having the key of David, the One who opens, and no one can shut; and who shuts, and no one opens” (Revelation 3:7)
  • And we know that the Son of God has come, and He has given us an understanding so that we may know Him who is true. And we are in Him that is true, in His Son Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ]. This is the true God, and eternal life. (1John 5:20)
  • If so be that you have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Yahushua [Jesus]. (Ephesians 4:21)
  • Yahushua [Jesus] answered, “… Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.” (John 18:37b).
  • Yahuwah Elohim [The LORD your God] will raise up unto you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me [Moses]; unto Him you shall hearken… (Deuteronomy 18:15; see also Deuteronomy 18:18-19)
  • Yahushua [Jesus] said,… “For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me.” (John 5:46)
  • Pilate therefore went forth again, and said … Behold, I bring Him [Yahushua] forth to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him. (John 19:4)

When we look very carefully at these few verses, we gain great insight for “Who is Truth.”

From the above verse in John 14:6, Yahushua Messiah tell us three things about Himself. He said:

  • I am the Way.
  • I am the Truth.
  • I am the Life.

Can we grasp what He is saying? He is telling us the answer to the question – “WHO IS TRUTH?”

The Man, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] is The Truth!

We also see from the above Scriptures, that Yahushua Messiah is:

  • the Holy One,
  • the True One,
  • the Way to the Father,
  • the Way to Eternal Life,
  • the One in Whom there is no fault, and
  • the One Who is The Prophet, like unto Moses, in Whom we are to hearken to [listen to and obey].

The Mystery of Yahushua’s Identity

Yahushua Messiah, though in the form of God (Philippians 2:6-7), laid aside His glory, divine power, and majesty, and came to this earth in the likeness of men.

As a man, Yahushua Messiah humbled Himself and became obedient unto death. He came down from heaven to give Eternal Life to those who will believe in Him (John 6:33; John 3:15).

His mission and His message represented the true nature of Yahuwah Elohim! Yahushua Messiah was the Living Word of God, manifested in the flesh.

In the article, Messiah: The Word Made Flesh, we discussed in great detail the mystery of Yahushua’s identity as “the Word” of God made flesh:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:1,14)

The above Scripture reveals that the Word of God was made flesh! Yahushua came to the earth, and completely demonstrated the Torah, God’s Standard for Truth, as the pattern and example for those who would believe in Him.

Just as the written Torah is the Light for our path, so also Yahushua is the living Light of Life:

  • For the Commandment is a Lamp; and the Torah [law] is Light (Proverbs 6:23a).
  • Your Word is a Lamp unto my feet, and a Light unto my path. (Psalms 119:105).
  • In Him [Yahushua] was Life; and the Life was the Light of men…. He [Yahushua] was the true Light; He enlightens every man coming into the world (John 1:4,9).
  • Then spake Yahushua [Jesus]… “I am the Light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life (John 8:12).
  • The Dayspring [Messiah] from on high has visited us, to give Light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace (Luke 1:78b-79).

The Word of God became the Man, Yahushua Messiah.
The Man, Yahushua Messiah, became the Living Torah!
The God of the Bible, Yahuwah Elohim, was revealed in the flesh,
through the Man, Yahushua
Messiah!

Death Could Not Hold Him Down

The Scriptures tell us that after His time of ministry on earth was complete, Yahushua Messiah was delivered unto death for our sins. But death could not hold Yahushua down:

Him [Yahushua] God raised up the third day,
and showed Him openly; not to all the people,
but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us,
who did eat and drink with Him
after He rose from the dead.
(Acts 10:40-41)

Now the God of peace,
that brought again from the dead our Lord Yahushua [Jesus],
that Great Shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant
(Hebrews 13:20)

And what is the exceeding greatness of His power
to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of His mighty power,
which He worked in Messiah,
when He raised Him from the dead,
and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places…
(Ephesians 1:19-20)

These, and many other verses, tell us that Yahushua Messiah shed His blood as payment for our sins, on our behalf, and was then raised up from the dead. He was delivered unto death, but death could not hold Yahushua down!

Yahushua was raised up from the dead, and is now seated at the right-hand of Yahuwah Elohim [the LORD God], (Romans 8:34b; 2Peter 1:10-11)!

Yahushua is alive and continues forever! And He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, making intercession for them (Hebrews 7:24-25).

Messiah Was Not an Ordinary Man!

Messiah Yahushua was not an ordinary man!

The Man, Messiah Yahushua, never committed any sin — He did not transgress the Law [Torah] (1John 3:4b; 1John 3:5b; 1Peter 2:21b-24a; Hebrews 7:26)!

Yahushua was innocent, unstained, righteous, and holy, in every way, therefore death could not hold Him. No other person in all of history can claim to be sin-LESS and alive forever more!!

When we honestly and objectively examine the Words of the Bible, the only logical conclusion is that Yahushua Messiah is Who He said He is!

Yahushua Messiah came to this earth to demonstrate Who the Powerful, Eternal God is, and to demonstrate God’s great, sacrificial love for us!

Yahushua Messiah is God in the flesh! This is why Yahushua could say, “I am the Truth.”

“As the centuries pass, the evidence is accumulating that, measured by His effect on history, Jesus is the most influential life that ever lived on this planet.” — Kenneth S. Latourette

Finding Truth: Our Starting Point

Messiah and the Scriptures are our Starting Point, our foundation for finding Truth.

The Person of Messiah, Who is Truth, and the written Scriptures that are His Words (as we saw in Part 2), give us all we need for discerning what is Truth.

The wonderful thing is that we can have a relationship with this Person Who loves us, Who is unchanging, merciful, and Who wants what is best for us!

This Person, Yahushua Messiah, through His Holy Spirit, wants to guide us into all Truth (John 16:13-14).

He will guide us according to God’s written Scriptures; He will not contradict His own Words. His guidance will always be in harmony with the written Word of God.

Many modern-day saints have experienced the presence of Yahushua Messiah. As a result, their lives have been joyfully changed. Encountering the Living Messiah, Who is Almighty God, is a tremendous, life-changing event, and is possible for whoever comes to Him!!

He Calls Us to Come to Him

Yahushua Messiah urges us to “come” to Him, to “open up your heart” to Him, and be in “fellowship” with Him:

Yahushua said,… “Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Yahushua said,… “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20)

God is faithful, by whom you were called unto the fellowship of His Son Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] our Lord. (1Corinthians 1:9)

That which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you, that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ]. (1John 1:3)

These Scriptures teach us the steps to take for Messiah to become ‘birthed’ within us [become ‘born-again’], as His Word urges us:

“… You must be born again.” (John 3:7b)

How do we become ‘born again’ — how does Yahushua Messiah become ‘birthed’ within us?

    1. Come to Him;
    2. Open up our heart to Him — Begin to obey His Words;
    3. Be in Fellowship with Him.

If we are genuinely seeking Truth, and if we want to live our life according to Truth, then we will come to the Person, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ]! It is then, that we will find the answer to what is Truth. It is then, that we can be confident of finding truth because, as we saw in Ephesians 4:21, “The Truth is in Yahushua [Jesus]!”

Come To Him

What does it mean to “Come to Him?”

It means we humble ourselves by bowing our heart before Him, and talk to Him, asking Him for answers and guidance. Yahushua, by His Holy Spirit, will hear our cries for His answers and guidance into Truth.

He is much closer than we think! By His Holy Spirit, He is present with us. And even though we do not see Him, He is exceedingly real!!

When we become born-again, we are born into God’s family. We are not alone any longer. We have Yahushua Messiah living within us, by His Holy Spirit. We have the Living God, Yahuwah Elohim [the LORD God], through His Son, to be our personal guide and friend, by His Holy Spirit.

As we saw in Part 2, the Holy Spirit will lead us into all Truth, which is in complete harmony with God’s written Word. To be in harmony with God means to obey the Holy Spirit’s guidance which means to walk according to God’s written Word.

In My Name

When we talk to God, it is important that we come to the heavenly Father in the name of His Son, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ]. Through Yahushua Messiah we have access to Father’s presence, if we come in humility of heart.

We come to the Father with a humble heart, knowing that Yahushua, the sin-LESS Son of God, can enter the presence of Father God, Who is the Pure and Holy One of Israel.

Because Messiah is innocent, righteous, and holy, we bring our requests to God in the name of His Son.

Messiah, whose sacrificial love for us transcends all understanding, is able and willing to stand before Yahuwah on our behalf:

For through Him [Yahushua Messiah] we both [Jew and Gentile], have access by one Spirit unto the Father. (Ephesians 2:18)

Therefore He [Yahushua Messiah] is able also to save to the uttermost those who come unto God by Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrew 7:25)

We come to Father based on Messiah’s merits, trusting Messiah’s righteousness and mercy to lead us, revive us, cleanse us, and deliver us (see Psalms 143; Titus 3:4-7).

As we saw in Part 2, prayer — talking to our heavenly Father — is of great importance!

The Scriptures teach us that we talk to the heavenly Father, in the name of His Son:

Yahushua [Jesus] said, “… And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14)

Yahushua [Jesus] said, “… You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you.” (John 15:16)

When we seek God’s guidance and pray “Lead me in Your Truth“, praying in the name of His Son, we are talking to the Person of Truth — God Himself, the Living, All-Powerful, All-Knowing Elohim [God].

We will not always understand His Ways, but we now have the starting point for finding what is true and righteous.

Conclusion: The Reward

As we saw in Part 1, we discussed some barriers that prevent us from finding Truth — the biggest barrier being our own pride.

As we saw in Part 2, we discussed “What is Truth” — it is The Torah, which is the written Standard for Truth!

And now, as we have seen here in Part 3, we know “Who is Truth” — it is Yahushua Messiah, [Jesus Christ] the Mighty God (see Isaiah 9:6), the Person sent down from heaven, the Person of Truth, the Living Torah, the living Standard for Truth!

When we search diligently for God’s Truth, through prayer and through the written Scriptures, we are greatly rewarded:

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Yahuwah [the LORD] is near unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. (Psalms 145:18)

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8a)

Father promises to reward those who seek Him diligently.

He will reward those who sincerely ask, “Lead me in Your Truth.”

So come to Yahuwah [the LORD] in prayer today, and ask Him (in the name of His Son) to remove any barrier there might be in your life and then to grant you a direct personal revelation of Him. After that, trust Him and wait for Him to grant you the revelation that you need in His own way and time.

He promises . . . to draw near to those who call upon Him in truth – in sincere honesty!
