With all the turmoil happening in the world today, it is very difficult to look beyond the earthly, physical realm. The news of so many disruptive and troubling events can hold us captive, dragging us into the foaming, fearful confusion.
It is understandable to be troubled and discouraged by the current events in the world. So much of what happens seems to indicate that conditions are beyond repair!
But for ‘Thirsty Souls’ — those who call on the name of Yahuwah Elohim [the Hebrew name for the LORD God], we are looking to the heavenly Kingdom. Our eyes are on the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity! We are looking at the things which are not seen:
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look, not at the things which are seen, but (we look) at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2Corinthians 4:17-18)
These verses encourage us to look at, focus on, and set our sight on the things that are unseen, the invisible things! Why? Because the unseen things are eternal, outside of time, wherein dwells our heavenly Father.
Much of the Bible’s message cannot be understood unless we focus on the things that are unseen, invisible. It is the below-the-surface, the unseen realm, that Yahuwah desires that we understand.
How foolish of heart to be absorbed with earthly things, focusing only on the temporal! There is more to this life than what appears on the surface.
This world is temporary. This world is passing away! All that is of this natural world — the love of money, personal ambition, the passions of the flesh — these things are not of the Father’s Kingdom! These are contrary to Yahuwah’s will (1John 2:16-17).
This world’s enticements to embrace the lustful passions of ‘carpe diem‘ are deceptive lies from the dark and wicked realm of Satan: The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble (Proverbs 4:10).
Our present time on this earth is a short, yet precious time for us to prepare to be a part of God’s heavenly Kingdom, and seek with all our might to do Father’s will (John 5:30b)!
We need to keep our focus on the unseen things, and work out our salvation with fear and trembling! Blessed are those who “consider their latter end” and spend their days pursuing “the prize of the high calling of God in Messiah!“ (Philippians 2:12; Deuteronomy 32:29; Philippians 3:14)
“Oh, the dullness and hardness of heart of a man who looks only to the present, instead of preparing for that which is to come!” – Thomas à Kempis
Our life on this earth is our preparation time for the Day of Judgment. This life is our time to maintain a clean conscience before God, and shun our self-centered, lustful nature. We need to begin to endure our trials with patience and humility, and honour Yahuwah with simple obedience.
Our lifetime here is a journey of preparation – a journey of following after our Saviour in righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness (2Peter 3:7; 1Timothy 6:11).
The journey may seem long and unbearable, at times. But, like a breath of wind, like a vapour that vanishes — in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye — we will be resurrected! One day, those who love Yahuwah will fly away into the secure and ever-lasting arms of our Saviour, to abide with Him forever, in the realm wherein God Himself dwells (James 4:14; 1Corinthians 15:52).
Those who have been born-again live a hidden life — we are hidden in Messiah, hidden within His plans and purposes. We are just passing through! We are as strangers and pilgrims in this earth, on our way to the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem (Colossians 3:1-3; Hebrews 11:13; Hebrews 12:22).
We are the unseen ones in the earth. The world does not understand us, nor see us. The ungodly, the unrighteous cannot comprehend us because they cannot ‘see’ the invisible Almighty God, the Creator of heaven and earth, Yahuwah Elohim [the LORD God].
But we see Him! He is the Mighty One of Israel, and He is mightier than the rushing, turbulent noises of this confused world (Psalms 93:4)!!
And we see His Son also, Yahushua the Messiah [Jesus Christ] — the Righteousness of God! He is the Saviour of the whole world, who is crowned with glory and honour (Hebrews 2:9; 1John 2:2)!
We love Him, we worship Him, we follow Him. He is as real to us as the morning light, as the billowing clouds, as the wind and waves of the oceans, as the quietness of freshly fallen snow.
And when our earthly house of this body is dissolved, then we will have a spiritual house, a building not made with hands. We will have an inheritance that is incorruptible, undefiled, that fades not away, reserved for us in heaven (1Corinthians 15:44; 1Peter 1:4).
All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but, he that does the will of God abides for ever. (1John 2:16-17)
Remember — Yahuwah is the ALL-Mighty! His over-riding plans and eternal purposes will ultimately prevail! He will see us, His elect, through to the End!
Let us keep our eyes focused on Father’s eternal plans. Let us determine to please Him, the unseen, invisible One! Let us be watchful in prayer, maintain our obedience, and prepare for His appearing.
And when Messiah, who is our life, shall appear, then shall we also appear with Him, in glory (Colossians 3:4).
