No Good Thing Will He Withhold

“No good thing will He withhold” is a phrase in the Scripture that refers to God’s generosity.

Yahuwah Elohim [the Hebrew name for the LORD God] is exceedingly generous in many ways!!

But this phrase – “no good thing will He withhold” – has a condition attached to it.

Here is the entire verse:

For Yahuwah Elohim [the LORD God] is a sun and shield: Yahuwah will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. (Psalms 84:11)

The condition for being a recipient of Yahuwah’s good and abundant provisions is to be among them that walk “uprightly“.

In other words, when we are living and behaving in a way that is ‘upright’ in God’s eyes, then we can expect this wonderful promise to be ours — that Yahuwah will not withhold any good thing — from those who walk uprightly!

But what does it mean to walk uprightly, according to the Scriptures?

Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. (Psalms 19:13)

Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. (Proverbs 13:6)

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. (Proverbs 16:17)

As these verses teach us, walking uprightly means we will separate ourselves from evil, separate ourselves from deceit or guile, and we will walk according to Yahuwah’s righteous standards. It means we will avoid sinning, as the apostle John tells us, we will avoid violating God’s law, the Torah (1John 3:4).

Walking uprightly means we will learn Yah’s righteous standards as revealed in the Torah, so that we will know how to work righteousness (see Isaiah 26:7-10), as required by Yahuwah.

Yahuwah will be abundantly good to those who are “upright” — those who are following after The Righteous One, Yahushua Messiah [the Hebrew name for Jesus Christ] Jeremiah 23:5-6). Those who walk uprightly, and work righteousness, and speak the truth in their heart are on The Pathway to dwelling in Yahuwah’s holy hill (see Psalms 15:2; Acts 10:35).

If our focus is turned toward Yahuwah, seeking the heavenly Father with a fervent and sincere desire to honour Him by keeping His written Word, living before Him in honesty and integrity, . . .

then we will know the reward of His goodness.

An Open Book

Do we not realize that our life is an ‘open book’ before God? We cannot hide anything from God. He sees what we do in our behaviour toward our family and friends. He sees what we do in the seclusion of our home or car.

God is always with us, watching and following us each moment! This should inspire us to live before Him ‘uprightly’ and have a real concern for what He desires of us.

It makes a huge difference in our behaviour to remember that Yahuwah Elohim is always beholding the things we do and say. He knows our thoughts and actions every minute of the day.

Yahuwah Elohim’s character of purity, lovingkindness, truthfulness, and power is the reason for seeking to live in such a way that we would try to never offend Him, that we would seek to not violate His Word. He is worthy of all our attempts to seek to please Him, both in the small, intimate ways, and in the big, great ways.

But when we fail, when we stumble and go our ‘own way’ (which we all do), let us remember — He loves each one of us! We are precious to Him! And He wants to help us!! He wants us to come to Him and seek restoration through confession, repentance, and humility.

By confessing our faults and failures, Father can restore us back onto His pathway. He can restore our desire to be as He is — true and good, and living according to His written Word: Be ye holy, as I am holy” (1Peter 1:13-16).

If our heart’s desire is to walk uprightly, . . .

following Yahushua Messiah’s [Jesus Christ’s] example (for He always did what pleased the Father John 8:29), . . .

then we can expect to receive His strength and His blessings — blessings of enrichment to our life, blessings that have no sorrows:

The blessing of Yahuwah [the LORD], it makes rich, and He adds no sorrow with it. (Proverbs 10:22)

He Is Watching Us

As we seek Yahuwah’s guidance and strength and grace, asking His help to order our affairs and behaviour in a proper and honest way, then Father God opens up salvation and rescue for us, delivering us out of our troubles! (See Psalms 50:23)

May it be that you and I will walk in the ways of Yahuwah, clinging to His good and righteous ways revealed in His written WORD, sometimes referred to as The Ancient Paths.

By Father’s great love and mercy, one of the ‘good things’ Father will give us is the ability to maintain our integrity before Him, and the help we need to go from strength to strength (see Psalms 84:5-7).

Let us therefore remember — God is watching us! We are seen also by those within the great cloud of witnesses (Hebrews 12:1-2).

When we are walking ‘uprightly’, seeking to live according to the truth and purity of His WORD, then His wonderful promise is ours:

no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly!

  1. Michaela says:

Yahuah is actually the only company, besides my dog, I have in this life, and is a most beautiful one, when you are aware, that he who loves you so immense much, that he died for you, walks with you wherever and through whatever you have to walk through. I never really feel alone, though I have no company of any visible friend for the most. Being aware of and cherrishing Yah’s constant presence during the walk through this life in his ways, makes life so very much valued that the up and downs I go through makes them an easy joke. I wouldn’t like to miss one minute, but also longing more and more, so overwhelming much at times, to see him once face to face and same time been molded perfectly into his image back again. Praise you Abba ha shamayim for who you are for all eternity.

“Wisdom comes to us in the Scripture, and presents to us a choice, showing the dividing of the pathway — the Pathway of Life and the Pathway of Death. Wisdom warns — if we are to walk in the Pathway of Life, we have to hate evil. Wisdom hates pride and arrogance. These are subtle things that can begin without our scarcely being aware of them. Evil behavior, perverse speech — these are things wisdom hates. If we are to walk in the Way of Life, we have to hate what wisdom hates” (See Proverbs 8:12-13).

The Son of God:
Yahuwah Elohim [the Hebrew name for the LORD God], Who is the Living, Eternal God, Creator of all things, Who can do whatever His pleases, came to this earth, born into this world through a virgin birth. He did this to communicate His character, His nature, His power, His purpose, and His plans. Only Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] could have accomplished this mission, because . . . He was not an ordinary man!!
