Remember the Ancient Paths

Yahuwah Elohim [the Hebrew name for the LORD God] declared, from the beginning, what is to come, and what will be at the end.

Yahuwah’s counsel shall stand forever! His truth is the only thing that endures throughout all generations!

He made His Ways known From the Beginning!

He wants us to remember and never forget what He said from the beginning – remember the former things of old – The Ancient Paths!

Thus says Yahuwah [the LORD]: Stand by the roads, and look – and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls…. (Jeremiah 6:16a)

This Jeremiah 6:16 verse urges us to –

seek for,
look for, discern,
and ask!
Ask for the Ancient Paths!
Ask where is The Good Way!
And then – walk in it!!

Yahuwah wants us to remember The Ancient Paths of old, what He said ‘from the beginning’ — the teachings, the statutes, and the judgments given to us, through His servant Moses:

Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments (Malachi 4:4).

The teachings, statutes, and judgments of Moses are known as ‘the Law’ – but in the Hebrew language, it is the Torah. The Torah [the first five books of the Bible] is the bedrock, the Righteous Standard, the foundation of The Ancient Paths.

‘Torah’ means Yahuwah’s teachings, instructions, and guidelines. The Torah is the foundation for learning how to walk in The Ancient Paths.

To walk in The Ancient Paths is to obey Yahuwah’s written Word ‘from the beginning’.

To walk in The Ancient Paths, we begin to understand the great connection between obedience and holiness.

To walk in The Ancient Paths, we begin to learn the significance of the seventh-day Sabbath instructions, the dietary laws, the annual Biblical Feasts instructions, and many other guidelines within the ‘Old’ Testament — guidelines that apply to all of Yahuwah’s children, throughout all generations!

As the apostle Paul tells, “ALL Scripture is . . . profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2Timothy 3:16-17).

“All Scripture” includes The Torah!

When we begin to walk in The Ancient Paths, then we shall find the peace of heart and mind that we yearn for. We will then begin to come out of the foggy condition of mainstream religious Christianity. We will begin to come into a solid and joyful understanding of Yahuwah’s heart’s desire for His children!

Walking in The Ancient Paths is to walk in ‘The Good Way‘ — the Way of the Abundant Life that Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] promised: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10b).

Oh Dear Reader! Let none of us be among those who reject Yahuwah’s Torah — those who say ‘We will not walk in it.’ This is a very grevious and fearful thing to say!!

The Love of the Truth

Father warns us many times throughout the Scriptures, that those who take no delight in His Word, those who shun and ridicule obedience to His written Word, will not know His blessings, but rather His severe discipline.

Scripture tells us the essence of the problem of those who refuse God’s truth:

… because they received not the love of the truth,
that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion,
that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned
who believed not the truth,
but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
(2Thessalonians 2:10b-12; see also Jeremiah 6 and 2Thessalonians 1)

The root problem of those who refuse Yahuwah and the truth of His written Word is explained in the above passage: they will not receive “the LOVE of the truth“!

And where do we find the Truth?

In the written Word of God is where we find Truth:

“O Yahuwah (LORD) . . . Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your law (Torah) is the truth. (Psalms 119:142)

You are near, O Yahuwah (LORD); and all Your commandments are truth. (Psalms 119:151)

Yahushua (Jesus) saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by Me.’ (John 14:6)

These words spake Yahushua (Jesus) to the Father . . . ‘Sanctify them through Your truth: Your Word is truth.’ (John 17:17)

Yahushua (Jesus) said . . . ‘But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of Me.’ (John 15:26)

Yahushua (Jesus) said . . . ‘Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.’ (John 16:13)

For Yahuwah (the LORD) is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations. (Psalms 100:5)”

As these verses teach us, God’s WORD is Truth! We must love the Truth of God’s written Word!

The LOVE of the truth begins in our heart when we look to Yahushua Messiah [the Hebrew name for Jesus Christ] and receive Him as our Saviour and Master. His profound Words give us the remedy for deliverance from deception:

Yahushua [Jesus] saith unto him,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.
(John 14:6)

Yah’s Grace – His Enablement

Yahuwah sent His Son to redeem us, and to show us how to walk in God’s pathway, which are The Ancient Paths – The Good Way!

It is through Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] that Father establishes His covenant with us, whereby He gives us His grace (His enablement) to walk in The Ancient Paths:

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people. (Hebrews 8:10)

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. (Ezekiel 36:26-27)

As these verses teach us, Yahuwah desires to give us a new heart and a new spirit!

A new heart and new spirit is given by Yahuwah to those who choose to walk in the truth of His written Word. We receive this new heart and spirit when we become a new creation in Messiah — when we are born-again (John 3:1-8; 2Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 3:1-4).

When Messiah is birthed within us and His Holy Spirit is living within us, then Father begins to put His laws into our mind, and write them in our hearts. Our heart’s desire will then be to learn Father’s written Word for ourselves so that we can daily choose to walk in The Ancient Paths — and begin to learn to be obedient in the same way as our Saviour was obedient.

This is what it means to follow in Messiah’s footsteps, and to walk as He walked (1John 2:6).

The Good Way of Yahuwah is strength and life unto the upright (Proverbs 10:29)!

Yah’s ways shine brighter and brighter as we walk in the truth of His Ancient Paths.

And His Son, Yahushua Messiah, is the doorway to walking in Father’s Ancient Paths.

As we saw in the above John 14:6 verse, Yahushua is ‘The Way’ to the Father!

When we truly come to Yahushua Messiah, then we find the same “rest for our souls” that Father promised, as we saw in the first verse above, from Jeremiah 6:16 verse.

Following Yahushua is the KEY to finding true and lasting rest for our souls:

Yahushua Messiah said: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

Both verses (the one in Jeremiah and the one in Matthew) promise “rest for our souls”. Both give us the conditions that are necessary and vital for finding rest for our souls:

Walk in The Ancient Paths – The Torah!
Come to Yahushua Messiah, take His yoke upon you, and learn of Him!

The rest we find, when we fulfill Father’s conditions, settles us and assures us that we have found Yahuwah’s Truth and His eternal design for us. The rest we find surpasses our understanding, and is Ever-Lasting:

Now our Lord Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] Himself,
and God, even our Father,
which hath loved us,
and hath given us everlasting consolation
and good hope through grace,
Comfort your hearts,
and establish you in every good word and work.
(2Thessalonians 2:16-17)

Oh Thirsty Souls, let us be among those who are walking with Messiah (Who is the Living Torah) — walking in The Good Way, revealed from ancient times, from the beginning!

May we always remember The Ancient Paths! [1]
