God’s watchful eye is over every single creature, even those considered small and worthless.
Even little sparrows have Father’s concern and knowledge (Matthew 10:29). Nothing occurs without His will or permission.
Though the world around us seems to be wasting away with mindless tragedies and injustices;
and even though we may feel like we are insignificant — only a small, helpless creature, just a tiny speck among multitudes —
yet, our Saviour, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ], tells us:
“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:6-7)
Yahuwah Elohim [the LORD God] loves us and values us so much that He keeps a counting of the very hairs on our head! We are far more valuable to Him than a multitude of sparrows (Luke 12:6,7)!
Father is concerned about each one of His children, to the tinest detail!
He understands also, our fears and anxieties:
Since then we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Yahushua [Jesus], the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but [He is] one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16)
As this Scripture passage teaches us, our Saviour understands our fears and weaknesses. Because He loves and understands us, He wants us to come to Him for His grace and mercy! He wants things to be well with us!
His love for us can be seen in the multitude of His kindnesses given to us every day — the air we breathe, the clothing of our bodies, the food for our stomachs, the shelter of our home, our loved ones, indeed, our very life — all these are gifts to us!
He is our Good Shepherd, and we are in His hands. He holds us in His righteous right hand (John 10:11; Jeremiah 18:6; Isaiah 41:10)! Only goodness and mercy on our behalf will result when we determine to seek Father and walk in His ways — “seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33; see also Psalms 73:28).
God sees all the chaos, and the troubling events going on in the world. He sees it more clearly than we do, and yet permits it.
In the midst of all the senseless wickedness, God’s Word is still true and faithful. Father’s loving Holy Spirit is still available to guide us through the trials and the difficulties. He longs to show Himself strong on our behalf (2Chronicles 16:9a).
Though we may not understand our adversities; though we may not be able to interpret Father’s loving hand in the midst of our troubles, yet the love and mercy of God continues and remains faithful. King David knew of Father’s mercy. He trusted in Father’s mercy: “In the day of my trouble I will call upon You [Yahuwah (the LORD)]: for You will answer me.” (all of Psalms 86)
If we feel like small and unworthy creatures, let us remember that Yahuwah loves every single one of us so much that He considers every single one of us worthy of the Gift of eternal life, through His most prized possession, His Son, Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ].
Let us ‘go to Him,’ as the Shunammite woman went to the man of God, and trusting in Father’s abundant goodness to love us, to help us and guide us through our troubles (2Kings 4:8-37).
LOVE is why Yahushua Messiah endured the pain and humiliation of the cross, the shedding of His blood, and gave His life — so that He could rescue every precious, priceless, treasured human being (John 10:11)!
Yahushua came to rescue each one of us — because He considers you to be beautiful and beloved! He desires to bless you! He desires to see your face and to hear your voice. He tells us: “Let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely” (Song of Solomon 2:8-14; see also Song of Solomon 1:15-16; 2:10,16; 4:7,10; 7:10).
Let us recall something Thomas Merton said about love, which reflects God’s true nature (1John 4:8,16):
Love seeks only one thing: the good of the one loved.
I stand in awe of Your presence.
How could You love one such as I?
One humbled sinner.
I stand in awe of Your presence.
Why would You die for one lost out of hundreds?
Yeshua. Yeshua.
I stand in awe of Your wonders.
What Lord, am I? A drop of dew in a forest.
I stand in awe of Your wonders.
What purpose have I?
I live only to praise You.
Yeshua. Yeshua.
You are a shield for me.
My glory and the lifter of my head.
Yeshua. Yeshua.
We love Him, because He first loved us.
(1John 4:19)
