Father Knows Those Who Are His

The Scriptures tell us that our Heavenly Father knows those who belong to Him:

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2Timothy 2:19).

The above passage is a great comfort to us. Knowing whom you belong to, and who belongs to you, is very important.childrengroupdrawing

If you go to pick up your children at the day-care center, and the room is full of two-year-old toddlers, that is certainly an important moment to know which ones belong to you!

Your own children do not have to be wearing tags with identity information for your sake! No. You easily know and recognize your children! They belong to you. You know everything about your own children, because they are yours!

Yahuwah [the LORD] will be facing a similar scene on that Great Day of the End-Time Harvest:

Let both grow together (the tares among the wheat) until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn (Matt 13:24-30).

At the end-time harvest, as this passage teaches us, Father will be gathering His Own — separating the wheat from the tares. This will be the time when all the earth shall know that Yahuwah knows those who belong to Him!

How Will He Know?

How will Father know them that belong to Him? The essential sign for how Yahuwah will know those who belong to Him is that they will be His own children!

Certainly, Father will know each one of His own beloved children by their name. He knows everything about us, including our own name (Exodus 33:17; Isaiah 43:1; Psalms 139; John 10:3)! But essentially, the sign Yahuwah will be looking for is that His own children will be abiding in His Son, in Messiah Yahushua [Christ Jesus].

This is a mystery, yet all of Yahuwah’s children must be in Messiah [Christ]:

So we, being many, are one body in Christ…. (Romans 12:5)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. (2Cor 5:17)

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (1John 3:24)

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits (of the resurrection from the dead); afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. (1Cor 15:22,23)

As these Scriptures show us, they that are Messiah’s — those who are in Him, abide in Him, and belong to Him — will be resurrected at His coming. At the time of the great end-time harvest, it will be like a father coming to the day-care center to pick up his kids. Abba Father will know them that are His on that Great ‘Coming-to-Pick-up-My-Kids’ moment because He will find them in Messiah (Php 3:9)!

The Spirit of Messiah

The Spirit of Messiah is a vital element for being a part of that end-time harvest of Yahuwah’s children:

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. … But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (Romans 8:9-11)

… but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God (Romans 8:15, 16).

These passages reveal that if any man have not the Spirit of Messiah, he is none of His. In other words, those that do not have the Spirit of Messiah indwelling them, they do not belong to Yahuwah, the Mighty One of Israel — they are none of His!

Father can not ‘quicken’ — cannot ‘make alive’, raise from the dead — those who do not yet have the Spirit of Messiah indwelling them. When we have received ‘the Spirit of Adoption,’ we are adopted into Yah’s family. When we receive the Spirit of the Living God, then the presence of our Heavenly Father lives within us.

As we see in Romans 8:16 above, the Holy Spirit will bear witness with our spirit, and confirm to us, when we are the children of Yahuwah Elohim [the LORD God]. It will then be very natural to us to speak to the heavenly Father as our ‘Abba’ — our Daddy!

If you are not sure you are in Messiah Yahushua [Christ Jesus], then please read the brief article: Good News.

Knowing and Loving Father

It is equally important that Yahuwah’s children know Him. Not only does Yahuwah know those who are His, not only does He know those who are trusting in Him (Nahum 1:7), but His own children must come to know Him as well:

Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. (John 8:19)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. (John 14:7)

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:17)

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:21)

Children know their own parents, just as parents know their own children. As these verses show us, knowing Yahushua Messiah and knowing the Father are essential for Father to know us, His children!

One way we can confirm that we know we are in Messiah, is that we will desire to depart from iniquity (2Timothy 2:19). We will fervently desire to please our Heavenly Father! Messiah came to redeem us from iniquity, therefore we will want to stop sinning! We will want to stop doing those things that are against His Word (Titus 2:14; 1John 3:4).

Another way we can confirm whether we know our Heavenly Father, is that we will earnestly desire to learn and obey His commandments (John 14:21)! We will begin to seek His ways as for hidden treasures! We will want to walk according to His Word! This is how we learn to abide [remain] in Him (John 15:10; 1John 3:24).

Our obedience to His commandments is one of the vital ‘signs’ that Father knows that we are not the off-spring of another, but that we are His children, and that we love Him (John 14:15)!

Let Us Make Sure!

Let us therefore examine ourselves and make sure we are in Messiah, and thereby we can know we are among those whom Father knows! How very important this is!! We would not want to be in that group of people who heard the tragic words:

“But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.” (Luke 13:27)

How do we examine ourselves, as the Scriptures exhort? What can we do to prove to ourselves, to see whether we are in ‘The Faith’? We can seek diligently to learn Yahuwah’s Words for ourselves, and then we can begin to be obedient to His instructions. When we earnestly seek to learn and obey Father’s Words, then little by little, we will begin:

  • to be confident that we are in The Faith of Yahuwah Elohim, the Holy One of Israel;
  • to be confident that we truly belong to Yahushua Messiah, and are in Him;
  • to be confident that we have been Born-of-the-Spirit, and are of Abraham’s seed (2Corinthians 13:5; John 3:6; Gal 3:29).

Oh Abba Father, we thank You for Your Word and Your abundant love for each one of Your children! May we always honour You as our Father with our obedience!

Every parent knows his own child, and Yahuwah is no different! The Heavenly Father, the Holy One of Israel, knows those who are His!
