Chosen For the Master’s Use

Chosen from A groupAbba Father is on a constant search, searching throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully turned toward Him! Those who have a heart devoted to Yahuwah Elohim [the LORD God] are those who are suitable to fulfill His purposes. (2Chronicles 16:9)

Father searches for such special ones to be set-apart and ‘chosen.’

Do we ever consider how special it is to be ‘chosen’ ?  Being ‘chosen’ is NOT an in-significant thing!

Think about what we go through ourselves, to make a choice. Sometimes we can be very picky when choosing something! Sometimes, it can take us several minutes, several days, or even several months, before we make a choice. Choosing is not always a simple thing.

Whom Does God Choose?

We, who love Yahuwah, the Mighty One of Israel, have been chosen, called-out, and set-apart! What did Father go through to select His children? How does He make His choices? Can we know some of the qualities that Yahuwah uses for making His choices?

We can never be quite sure why Yahuwah selects one person and does not choose someone else. Whoever Father adopts, it is because He wants that particular person!

There is one passage in the Scripture that is a clue for this. Yahuwah has given us a list of certain qualities that He looks for when making His choices:

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are: That no flesh should glory in His presence. (1Corinthians 1:26-29)

This is a very good passage for us to remember the next time we feel totally inadequate for being chosen by Yahuwah. Consider the material Father chooses:

1. the foolish things of the world
2. the weak things of the world
3. the base (dishonorable and lowly) things of the world
4. the things which are despised
5. the things which are not (in the eyes of the world)

What a wonderful list of qualities! If Abba Father uses such qualities as part of His criteria for His choices, then there is no need for pretense, pride, or worry on our part. Yahuwah’s family is a wonderful bunch of half-witted, weak, lowly, and despised kids (as the world sees us). I feel right at home! And may we love each and everyone of Yahuwah’s choices!!

Father loves His chosen children and He is not surprised by our weaknesses. This is why He has made His grace abundantly available for us! — for when we are weak, then He is strong on our behalf! (2Corinthians 12:10)

But, Yahuwah has a specific reason for the criteria for who He chooses — that no flesh should glory in His presence!! May all the glory go to Him alone!

The wonderful thing to remember is that when Yahuwah adopts His children, it is because He wants us (each one of us) as His very own! And, Yahuwah’s family is the best family in the universe. Each one of us is chosen and accepted completely — accepted in the Beloved!” (Ephesians 1:6)

So rest, Dear Reader, in His choice of choosing you! He considers you worthy, suitable, qualified, and accepted!

Now What Are We To Do?

Now that Yahuwah has set us apart and chosen us, what are we to do?

Yahuwah has a particular task for us! Let’s see what it is:

He [Yahuwah] hath chosen us … before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy [‘set-apart’ as clean] and without blame before him in love  (Ephesians 1:4)

… brethren beloved of the Lord, … God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of [‘set-apart’ by] the Spirit and belief of the truth  (2Thess 2:13)

As the above Scriptures teach us, all of us have the same FIRST task — the task to be holy:

  • — the task to be set apart by His Holy Spirit
  • — the task to be set apart by believing His truth
  • — the task to maintain a ‘set apart’ life that is without blame before Him in love

Do we realize this is the first task that He has for us? Does this sound strange? Is this the task you had in mind for yourself?

Chosen To Be Set Apart

Yes, Father has chosen us to be set-apart, to be devoted to His truth, and to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into all of His truth.

When Yahuwah Elohim selects us, we are chosen according to His plan and purposes. And His plan for His chosen ones is to be ‘set-apart!’  There is a separation from the world that must begin with each one of us.

This separation can be painful because often the separation begins within close family and friend relationships. It is a separation that Abba Father coordinates! It is not something we have to create in our own efforts!!

But there must be a willingness, and a humility, on our part to yield to the Holy Spirit’s guidance in this matter of being ‘set apart’ from the ways of the world. Father has chosen us to be ‘set apart’ — to be holy and without blame before Him in love. Therefore we must begin to step away from, shed, and put away, worldliness, and its ways.

The Pattern of Separation

In the midst of being ‘set apart’ and separated, it is very important that we maintain a ‘right spirit’ toward all, and especially have a ‘right spirit’ toward our most immediate family members. Primarily, we must maintain a respectful, yielded, and submissive attitude toward our parents and/or our spouse and/or teachers, employers, and authorities.

As we saw in Part 2 of First the Natural, Then the Spiritual, our natural realm of circumstances has a profound connection to the spiritual realm. Maintaining a ‘right spirit’ in the natural realm is a necessary part of fulfilling the task that Father has chosen us for. (See Psalms 51:10-13) A ‘right spirit’ will be a guard for us, guarding us against bitterness or resistance to Father’s ways.

However, be prepared for the ‘set apart-ness’ as a ‘chosen one.’ One of the consistent patterns of Yahuwah’s ‘chosen ones’ is separation. It is not unusual, just a necessary part of being chosen.

Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Jeremiah, Paul — all of these experienced a separation. Many of Father’s chosen ones experience a separation in one form or another. This is the nature of being chosen! We are selected, called out, and set apart for a particular task. Seeking to maintain a right spirit in the midst of this separation, keeps us sensitive and ready for His purposes.

“I Have Chosen You!”

Yahushua [Jesus] has told us:

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him” (John 6:44).

“You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you!” (John 15:16)

Father, by His Holy Spirit, chose each one of us and drew us to Him! And HalleluYAH! He gave us a heart to love Him and a desire to walk with Him (John 6:44,65)!

“… He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Yahushua Messiah” (Philippians 1:6).

As this Scripture teaches us, now Father has begun a good work in us! Therefore, to fulfill this good work, we must begin to be sensitive and teachable to His dealings with us! This requires that we spend time with Him, learning His Word. We need to talk to Him with the deepest and the most open of honesty — yielding to Him, cooperating with Him, and being ready for His direction.

The Treasure in Earthen Vessels Kratochvil hanging-cups-(vessels)

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. (2Corinthians 4:7)

As this verse in 2Corinthians shows us, we, who are weak, fragile, earthen vessels, have a TREASURE within us.

What is this treasure??

What is this excellency of His power

  • It is the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Yahushua Messiah (2Corinthians 4:6)!
  • It is the salvation that the prophets inquired of and searched for diligently (1Peter 1:10)!
  • It is knowing, and trusting in, Yahushua Messiah as Saviour and Redeemer!
  • It is being found in Him (Philippians 3:9)!
  • It is the mystery of Messiah-in-you, the hope of glory (Romans 8:10; 2Corinthians 13:5; Galatians 4:19; Colossians 1:27)!

Messiah living within us is The Treasure! The excellency of Yahuwah’s presence and His power and His grace — the ability He gives us to overcome — is the treasure of Messiah in us!

This is awesome!

Do we treasure this Treasure?  – are we allowing Him to live His life fully within us?

Are we seeking to cooperate with Him daily?

Are we crying out to Him for a heart that is united in following Him?

This is the kind of heart that Joshua and Caleb had — a heart devoted and set-apart for His use!

Chosen Vessels of Honor and Mercy

Father has chosen each one of us, knowing our weaknesses. He knew our frame from the start! Yet it is in our weaknesses that His strength, or His provision, is made perfect. This is His way of showing forth His honour and mercy — by His abundant grace that is available to us (Romans 9:21-23)

Yahuwah has already given us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, so that we might be partakers of His divine nature (2Peter 1:3,4).

As we can see from all of Yahuwah’s abundant and overflowing provisions for us, let us therefore remember another one of Father’s reasons for chosing you and me . . .

He Chose You Because . . .

  • He chose you because He loves you (Deuteronomy 7:6-8; Romans 5:8; Galatians 2:20), and He considers you to be worthy, suitable, and qualified!
  • He chose you because He desires to make known the riches of His glory in you, His child — you, one of His children who belong to Him; you, one of His children who are among His chosen (earthen) vessels of honour and mercy (Romans 9:21-23).
Oh Father, give us a genuine heart’s desire for Your Ways. Create in us clean hearts. Renew a right spirit within us! Help us to be ready, and prepared, as a ‘chosen vessel’ — chosen for the Master’s use. In the name of our Saviour, Yahushua Messiah, we pray. Amen.

A Whole Heart:
What does it mean to seek God with a whole heart? When we seek for something with a ‘whole heart’, we are searching with great desire, focus, diligence, and even with a measure of passion and agony! Are we willing to put aside all other things in order to gain the supremely wonderful fellowship and friendship of Messiah?
